LDI: The Pastor's Emotional Health

Todd and Melissa Frye currently live in Olathe, Kansas, where they have resided for the last thirteen years. They have three sons: Landen, Logan, and Brennan. Two of them attend MidAmerica Nazarene University and the youngest is a sophomore in high school. These boys are the joy of their life.

Todd is the chair of the Counselor Education Department at MidAmerica Nazarene University. In this position, Todd trains graduate students on how to become mental health counselors. Todd also holds a small private counseling practice. He earned his master’s degree in Counseling from Northwest Nazarene University and his Doctorate in Counselor Education and Counseling from Idaho State University. He is a licensed clinical professional counselor in both Kansas and Missouri. Todd is a regular trainer for counselors in the greater Kansas City area. Todd’s parents were Nazarene missionaries in Papua New Guinea.

Melissa is on staff at College Church of the Nazarene as their Support and Recovery Ministries Pastor. Melissa is also a licensed counselor. She sees clients, trains small group leaders, teaches spiritual formation, and offers psychological insight/support to the staff and congregation. Melissa received her master’s degree in Counseling from MidAmerica Nazarene University and has received training at Nazarene Theological Seminary. She has been the Worship Pastor for several churches throughout her career, taking after her father, who also served the Nazarene church in worship ministry for 40 years.
